Eyes and Brows

Eyes and Brows

We're firm believers in 'the eyes are the windows to the soul', although we'd argue brows should also be included in that metaphor! Defining these areas has never been more popular, with bold eyebrows, cut creases and full, luscious lashes having transformed the makeup game as we know it. Give these areas of the face the pro treatment with products from our MUA Shop, designed to provide you with the best of the best!

We're talking miraculous yet easy-to-use brow products, volumising mascaras, lash treatments and more! You'll also be able to replicate your favourite beauty bloggers' looks by getting your hands on unique eye shadows and liners from cult fave brands like Ofra, Kryolan and Gorgeous Cosmetics. Top it all off with a fluttery set of lashes from Modelrock and you'll be good to go for a glamorous night out! Everything you'll need to define those captivating eyes and more is available in our MUA Shop. If you're not sure where to start, though, we've broken it down for you.

Brow Maintenance & Definition

Seriously, when did brows become so popular? They've always been the 'curtains' of your face, designed to frame the eyes. We're sure they have evolutionary purposes, too, but let's focus on getting our brows on fleek for a sec. Start off your maintenance routine with a good set of tweezers (that is, if you're a DIY gal or guy). Get plucking at any stray hairs that don't fit into the shape you're after, including those pesky little baby hairs in between your brows. Once you're satisfied, it's time to start shaping out the brows a little more with a brow pencil, powder or wax.

Choosing the right product for you all comes down to what you're comfortable using, and the tools you have at hand. If you're pressed for time, grab a hold of an easy-to-use pencil and sketch our your brows that way. For those looking to create something a little more precisely defined, get your hands on a powder or pomade and a brow brush (check out our tools section for a peek at the best of the best!). Whatever you opt for, we promise you'll be turning heads wherever you go! We love Pixi by Petra and Curtis Collection when it comes to brows.

Shadows & Liners

Eyeshadow is where your creative side really gets to come out! Play around with vibrant colours, smoked out looks and more to give the eyes that 'pop' they deserve. We've seen the pros go all out on Instagram, YouTube and the like, coming up with unique and innovative shadow looks with little more than a palette and a few good brushes. It all comes down to practicing 'til you make perfect, and not being scared to try new things!

Blend neutral shadows all over the lid to establish a good base for the rest of your colours. This is where your creams, peaches, taupes and buffs come in. Then, it's time to get creative with whatever shades you're feeling that day! Make sure to apply darker colours on the outside of the eye, blending inwards to something a little softer and lighter. This will help mimic the right kind of definition in the eye, instead of making them look hollowed out or tired. You can apply a glittery or shimmery shadow on the lid to give any look a little extra somethin'. Don't forget to dab a little bit of highlighter in your inner corner for the illusion of bright, awake eyes. Try Napoleon Perdis, Gorgeous Cosmetics or Ofra for stunning, pigmented shadow options.

Winged liner may be the most popular trend of the 21st century, and it's definitely notorious for getting messy or difficult every now and then. We're sure that all makeup lovers have struggled with their liner at least once or twice! The products available from the quality brands included in our MUA Shop should make your journey to perfect liner a little easier, though. Go for a pen or brush tip to take the pressure off if you're still learning. Grab whatever type of liner you love most from brands like Youngblood or L.A. Girl

Mascara & Lashes

Lashes are often a source of extreme jealousy - some people are just born with perfect, fluttery eyelashes, and it's totally unfair, right? Well, nowadays it's not as hard, seeing as you can often mimic gorgeous, full lashes with a little help from some quality products.

Start off by curling your lashes, sending them skyward and making them look longer and thicker at the same time. Then, apply mascara to help lengthen and darken. Most of us already have a favourite mascara that we religiously stick to, but take this as your official encouragement to branch out and test out some of the products on offer from brands like Napoleon Perdis and Mirenesse, both of whom have a ton of mascara options that'll suit whatever lash look you're going for.

If you're looking to vamp it up, however, we suggest skipping the mascara for now and going straight to a good set of falsies - false lashes, that is! Modelrock are known for the gorgeous quality fibres they use in their lashes, with every pair helping to establish a different feel. Whether you're thinking of going au natural or prefer something a little more extreme, there's so much variety, you'll be spoilt for choice! Simply pop on your lashes by applying a little adhesive glue to the lash band and placing the lashes along your lash line using tweezers for precision. Wait a minute or so for the glue to dry and your eyes will look fluttery and fantastic! Make sure to apply mascara afterward to help blend the lashes to your natural eyelashes.
