“New research has uncovered that body image remains a major concern for young people, with nearly three quarters of 16-30 year olds confirming that they regularly do not feel self-confident.

The results were revealed by Kelly Osbourne who has been signed up by St. Tropez as an ambassador for self-esteem issues affecting young people in the UK. The UK wide research* was commissioned by St. Tropez in collaboration with youth charity The Prince’s Trust.

The rise of young people ‘self-bullying’ was shown in the results of the nationwide research, which discovered that 60% of young people cite being unhappy with their bodies as the main reason for low self-confidence and self-belief. This was compared to only 30% who said that their self-esteem had been knocked by external factors such as bullying.

One third of people surveyed also stated that they had not got a job because of low self-esteem causing them to perform badly in an interview.

The research also showed that the recession has clearly had a dramatic impact on the attitudes of young people, as career development, job security and money all came in higher than green issues as a point of concern. Only 20% of 16-30 year olds were worried about the planet. 90% of people also said that they spend time worrying about the future.

Kelly commented: ‘“It really saddens me that so many young people suffer from low self esteem and feel unhappy with their appearance. I think that at times we can be very hard on ourselves, which is certainly something I have experienced in my own life. I managed to overcome those negative thoughts by being healthy, thinking positively and making small changes to my lifestyle that make me feel good about myself, such as taking more exercise and being true to yourself.

“Dancing With The Stars and having my first ever St. Tropez spray tan was a huge confidence booster for me – it helped me to get fit and allowed me to look and feel beautiful from the outside, in. More over it also helped me to see that I can achieve anything I put my mind to, which was a huge accomplishment for me – I’ve never really been able to finish something I’ve started, and to do so feels amazing.”

Kelly Osbourne has been an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust for three years and believes passionately in The Trust’s work, helping young people overcome issues such as depression, drug addiction and long-term unemployment.

*The survey was carried out by YouGov and polled 2000 people from 16-30 years of age.

Pop goddess Lady Gaga might have had her gender questioned but she definitely showed her feminine side when she allegedly  broke down in tears before going onstage at the Grammy Awards as she was overwhelmed with the thought of performing with music legend Elton John.

Rumors have been rife for weeks that the two would be pairing for a duet at the 57th Grammy awards in America this month. According to reports the singer of  the ht Poker Face was so excited about performing a duet with Elton at Sunday’s ceremony that she was forced to make an emergency visit to her make-up artist shortly before she was due one stage!

“I ruined all my make up right before the show crying, Elton was so amazing and the performance was truly magical. I had been fascinating about this performance piece for a while and we got to do it…and im just really truly floored” said Gaga.

Lady Gaga and Elton John proved themselves to be the weirdest stars in showbiz after their performance by smearing themselves in dirt for their duet.

Demi Moore skipped the Golden Globes because she was “feeling sick and having a bad hair day”.

The 47-year-old actress had been expected to attend the ceremony in Los Angeles with husband Ashton Kutcher,  who presented an award with Jennifer Garner, but decided to stay at home instead.

She then posted a picture of herself on Twitter looking tired and sad with the caption “feeling sick and having a bad hair day”.

She also posted pictures of Kutcher in his tuxedo getting ready for the ceremony, saying: “Hubby looking dapper to present at the Golden Globes!”
Kutcher, who referred to his tux as a penguin suit, kept his fans updated with tweets from backstage. Including letting everyone know that the show was running so long that they cut out his award!

What do you think about Heidi Montag obsession with plastic surgery?
My weekly subscription to who arrived a few days ago, and for hours i couldn’t peel my eyes away from the before and after images of her.

I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but i think she was beautiful before she began, and she simply looks like an older more plastic version of herself.
i am not in any way against plastic surgery, if there is something that you can alter about yourself to increase your beauty in the eye of your beholder, then i think that it is a positive thing. i do believe that there is a big difference between this, and 10 surgeries in one day, that’s an unhealthy obsession.

Many people are upset and there is some brewing controversy as to the message that the publicity that Heidi’s touch ups are portraying to young giros when an already beautiful 23-year-old chooses to alter herself so much.

Heidi does not have the support of her Mum who has publicly said she is “horrified and having a total breakdown and can’t wait to confront Heidi”

Montag says that it is her life – and in her line of work, alterations can be necessary. To each their own.

Seen this week at New York Fashion week, she was barely recognisable. Trading her signature platinum locks for a modern, edgy ebony coloured mop. I personally think that the new look suits her, and she looks fantastic. Not many celebs can carry off such a dramatic change and come out the other side with positive comments from the media.
