We decided to speak to some of these people and get a bigger insight into what hairdryers people are using, and what they do and don’t like about them. Tracey, Sarah Simone and Lilli kindly donated their time and thoughts, so that we could compile and give you some unbiased knowledge and thoughts on the cant live without accessory – your Hairdryer.

TRACEY, 39 – NSW.
Thick, coarse, mid-length coloured brunette hair.
I have owned my Remington hairdryer, every time I wash my hair (every second day) for 12 months now. I find that it drys my hair, as I assume any dryer would, but i have been looking around and researching new ones for a few weeks. It wasn’t cheap, so by that I assumed that it was a good one. I have noticed that if I allow my hair to dry naturally it is far more shiny and soft than if i use my hairdryer (obviously not taking into account my fringe which tends to dry perpendicular to my forehead!). My hairdryer is what i have learned to be ’standard’ it is just a motor that blasts out air, with some switches that control a few different heat and speed settings – that’s it. To be honest that’s all i thought it was, but it turns out that there is a few extra features that are available in some hairdryers that can make a difference. After doing my research I have discovered ceramic and ionic.

Sarah, 19 – QLD
Fine, brittle long bleached blonde hair.
I own a cheap big w brand dryer, and its horrible! I have started saving for a more decent one and have decided on the Parlux Hair Dryer. My current one doesn’t seem to do much good, sure it drys my hair, slowly, but its not shiny at all. Some of my friends who use the Parlux have such shiny hair, and its really smooth. Even with my favorite smoothing serum after my hair has a brittle knotted feeling.

Simone, 30 – ACT
Normal, brunette hair.
I am a ex-hairdresser and used to use a Tony and Guy professional dryer, after my career change, I took my dryer home with me for myself and family to use. Whilst it was okay when i was using it in salon on clients, i physically could not dry my own hair with it, it was too heavy. After this experience weight defiantly should come into your decision making process, because you want to be able to hold it above your head for however long it takes to style your hair, and not have an aching and dead arm as a result! I would suggest going for a compact model that offers ceramic and ionic qualities, but doesn’t compromise on weight.

Lilly, 49 – SA
Oily hair with brittle dry ends.
As a mature lady, i can safely say that my hair has been around the block! i have been blonde, brown and everything in between! my hair is now quiet short, ear bob length and is a natural brunette, as all my colour has grown out. With no colour in my hair, i have noticed a big deference in my hair care needs, i am no longer combating dyed, dry or brittle hair. It is now more flat and listless. With a Ceramic and Ionic hairdryer i am able to get a voluminous and shiny result that everybody comments on.

The Verdict?

There is one thing common with all the ladies that gave us there thoughts is that those using a lower quality hairdryer, don’t get the results that they think they should. Lets face it, when you walk out of your Salon with perfect, shiny gorgeous hair, there really is no reason why you cant create that result at home is there? You’ve got all the haircare and styling products that you need, so it ultimately falls back on your hairdryer.

We think that you should look for the following tips when looking for your next perfect hairdryer:

Power, it needs to be powerful

Motor and Element, it really needs to have a professional motor, and a ceramic element

Weight, a professional motor doesn’t have to mean 10kg.

For those of the skeptics out there that aren’t all sold on the jargon, have a read of this article which explains the Ceramic and Ionic features of hairdryers.

Time do save up, and get yourself a new hairdryer and you’ll be looking like you have just stepped out of a salon every day!

The Balm is applied to the skin in the morning and at also at night after you have completed your Daily cleanse and tone routine. Do not massage this product into the skin. For best result leave a very light film on your face. Your make up can then be applied directly after. If you’re feeling tired or if you feel ok and your skin is looking tired this balm is like a coffee shot for your skin. It can transform tired looking skin into a refreshed and bright complexion instantly. Beauty Flash balm is not a anti aging cream and won’t reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The results are instant but not long lasting so this beauty Cream is not a complete solution to healthy looking skin, more a temporary fix up when your skin is looking a little tired or you have just had a long week.

Those of you who are already using Beauty flash balm won’t be surprised to know that last year over 48,000 units were sold in Australia alone RY added the Clarins skin products to its store early in 201O and customers from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and all over Australia have been making the most of the discount Clarins and having their Beauty and skin products shipped to them.

James patten one of the owners of ry.com.au said that “Clarins had been a heavily requested range and the opportunity to supply discount Clarins Beauty flash balm to our customers was something I knew would be very popular. We have the full Clarins product line at our Gold Coast salon and it’s also available to our online members at the best price”

We can’t think of another product on the market that has the same cult following. Have you tried Clarins products or do you have another product that you think does the same job or better than the Beauty flash Balm?

Hopefully you can all learn from my mistake!

I don’t think that I am addictive in nature, I never had, and it took a while for the issues I had to come together, and for me to realise what was causing them.

As an RY employee, I have a variety of, arguably, the worlds best Skin Care, literally at my fingertips. Even so, I think I have a relatively simple regime, and I have had it, with minor changes for long before my RY days.

My issues: firstly, increasingly dry skin. I always experience this on a small scale as the weather cools down each year. What would seem to some ironic, I was also experiencing a significant increase in breakouts, and yep… I’m a squeezer.

Just as I was about to add a hydration booster to my routine, I realised, it was my over obsession for my favorite exfoliant that was causing it all!

Most of us are aware of the need to regularly rid our face – and body – of dead skin cells. Otherwise the layers of dead cells we shed every day can leave our complexion looking dull and lack luster and can cause congestion and unwanted break-outs – especially for anyone suffering from oily or acne-prone skin.

Oily skins tend to expel an increased number of dead cells and if these are not effectively removed, they can block the pores, trapping any excess oil and bacteria with them. As we remove unwanted dead skin, the regeneration of new, healthy cells is encouraged and we are left with an overall brighter and healthier-looking complexion.

When we exfoliate too much, it almost has the reversed effect, by removing too much of the skins surface, your skin goes into overdrive and produces excess oil to help protect the reduced natural defenses of the skin.

I had to have my boyfriend hide my much loved MD Formulations Face & Body Scrub from me (after my first attempt of taking it out of the shower, I managed to convince myself it was necessary to get out of the shower and retrieve it) now i don’t know where it is, i cant use it! It has been coming up to to 3 weeks of not exfoliating, at all, and my skin has amazingly nearly cleared. No new deep wooping breakouts, and the older ones are clearing away.

Moral of my dilemma. Don’t get addicted to Glycolic exfoliants!

Share and Save

By encouraging cell renewal and providing protection from environmental damage, ASAP products help clear clocked pores, stimulate production of new collagen and reduce the buildup of dead skin cells.

Glycolic Acid (AHA)
Derived from the cane sugar plant, Glycolic Acid is the most active and beneficial of all the AHA’s. They gentle loosen the glue-like substance that holds dead skin cells to the skin without removing the moisture barrier; this reveals radiant, fresher skin. With consistent use, AHA’s work beneath the surface to lighten pigmentation caused by sun damaged.

Vitamin C
An essential ingredient needed to product collagen in the skin. Its powerful antioxidant action helps prevent free radical damage caused by the sun and environmental pollutants, resulting in reduced skin pigmentation and a reduction in the appearance of fine lines.

Vitamin A
Assists in skin rejuvenation by stimulating new collagen and improving skins elasticity, texture and firmness. This antioxidant assists in the reduction of blocked pores and pigmentation, resulting in improved skin radiance.

Antioxidants included in various ASAP products include CoQ10, Green Tea and Pycnogenol which all help protect and counteract free radical damage to promote healthier looking skin.

The world is going crazy for MoroccanOil!

MoroccanOil treatment is a very unique serum texture oil. The MoroccanOil is made from the oil of the Argan Tree (found only in Southeast Morocco) and a unique blend of vitamins. Definitely worth a mention is that the product is harvested under a free trade program, which supports families in Morocco.

For the past 4 weeks, I have used MoroccanOil every time I wash my hair, but have found MoroccanOil’s best results when combines with blow-drying. Silky smooth, shiny, soft hair, and my biggest concern – tangle free!

This oil is a powerful antioxidant that protects, nourishes and strengthens hair. It softens thick unmanageable hair and restore shone and softness to dull lifeless hair. MoroccanOil will help eliminate frizz, speeds up styling time by 40% and provides long-term conditioning to all hair types. MoroccanOil’s unique formula strengthens brittle hair while promoting healing to the hair.

There is only one Original MoroccanOil treatment, and it is several products in one.
• Shine
• Styling
• Finishing
• Repairing
• Conditioning
• Protecting

When most people hear oil, they think greasy, heavy and slicking product – no, no, no not in this case. It is super lightweight oil that is completely absorbed into the hair when applied. Even in very fine hair it does not weigh down and create grease, and creates awesome shine, softness and manageability.

There isn’t much more that I can say about this bottled miracle, other than try it for yourself!

Argan Oil’s unique composition has gained an international reputation for being nature’s best kept secret, and has numerous benefits. Moroccans have been using the oil as a treatment in hair and skin care products for centuries. In terms of personal care the properties of Argan oil work to enhance the skin’s overall health, preserve its youth, and aid in the natural healing of the skin and condition of the hair.
Hair Health Benefits:

Argan oil is non-greasy and non-oily and has become popular as a hair treatment to repair and heal damaged hair. It is high in unsaturated fatty acids and rich in Omega 9 – shown to be helpful at improving hair strength and health. Many believe it is excellent for locking in moisture and improving shine and luster.

Its’ primary benefit seems to come from its ability to naturally hydrate and to help stop frizziness, fly-away and hard to control, unmanageable hair. Argan oil has been shown to penetrate the hair shaft and almost instantly improve follicle elasticity and increase nourishment.

Usually applied following shampooing to wet hair, Argan oil helps detangle. It is rich in natural antioxidants that are effective free-radical fighters – helping to repair damage and improve strength. It naturally contains Vitamin E that helps revive and renew hair damaged by heat, wind, or over-styling and processing.

Skin Care Benefits:

It can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, strengthen elasticity, protect against stretch marks, and improve your skin’s overall health and vitality. It is readily becoming recognised as a essential element in the hair and beauty industry. Argan oil is now being used in several beauty products. Researchers who have completed extensive studies identify the benefits of Argan oil and strongly recommend its cosmetic use.

Where does it come from:

Moroccan Oil is an oil produced from the kernels of the Argan tree, native to Morocco, that is valued for its nutritive, cosmetic and numerous medicinal properties. The tree is extremely well adapted to drought and other environmentally difficult conditions of southwestern Morocco.

The species Argania once covered North Africa and is now endangered and under protection of UNESCO. The Argan tree grows wild in semi-desert soil, its deep root system helping to protect against soil erosion and the northern advance of the Sahara.

Argan oil remains one of the rarest oils in the world due the small and very specific growing area.

Dubbed the “miracle oil” from Morocco, it competes with Jojoba oil as a very effective hair treatment that renourishes and replenishes dry or brittle hair while protecting and healing damage. As an added benefit, Argan Oil appears to help color treated hair. Essential fatty acids smooth and coat the follicle shaft and have been shown to extend the life of color treated hair.

Tired of hearing scientific haircare jargon, and not really understanding what it means? Your not the only one! Here you will find a breakdown, for the lay person, of everything you need to know about hair dryers

Positive and negative ions exist in everything. It is the belief that when hair is wet, it is positively charged. Ionic hair dryers restructure and break up the water’s structure, so by bathing the hair with negative ions, allowing the water molecules to penetrate deeper into the hair shaft. As a result of this process hair is rehydrated, and reconditioned. Further to these claims, Ionic hair dryers cut hair-drying time in half, which makes sense when you consider that the water is being absorbed much quicker.
Ceramic refers to hairdryers that contain a ceramic coil, which is supposed to heat more evenly and effectively than the traditional heating element in hair dryers.

It is the combined effort of both Ceramic heating elements and omitting Negative Ions that radiate head inside the hair, whilst causing as less damage as possible. The mico-molecules of water are absorbed much easilier by the hair and this leaves it soft, shiny and healthy.

Both the Parlux Ceramic and Ionic 3500 and earlier model Parlux Ceramic and Ionic 3200 as their names would suggest, offer these features. They are top of the line professional hair dryer, that many stylists will use in salon themselves. Parlux are award winning hairdryers with an extremely powerful motor, they are the fasted most powerful professional hair dryer on the market!

Parlux award winning hair dryers, the 3200 and 3500 incorporates both ceramic & ionic technology. The dryers have a very powerful motor. It is the fastest most compact professional dryer on the market today.

The charge of negative ions attacks drops of water and transforms them into micro-molecules.

The hair easily absorbs this moisture, which makes it soft and shiny.
