For the X generation a full beard was a symbol of masculinity and strength. A man with a beard that even after spending all day chopping wood and drinking rum, would still throw you over his shoulder and carry you to the bedroom. Now, however generation Y has created the Hipster Beard phenomenon, Quick research suggests it all started around 2005, the demographic of beard wearers can be diverse with beards on show between Bondi and Burleigh heads, but generally the beards are full and slightly scruffy, with a “natural” appearance and are often seen on a man with skinny jeans with bottoms rolled, patterned collared shirt with the top button done up creating cool, calm and collected look. Add the beard and a three day pass to an outdoor music festival and ladies and gentleman the ultimate hipster was born.
These beards are not accidents, these beards are nurtured with love and affection. Beards require patience and grooming and the styling that goes into some of these beards is immense. I take my hat off to the man-scaping that does go on, we believe its a great insight for men to into the maintenance of being a woman. So squash that beard fear and embrace was seems to be a permanent statement in mens lifestyle and fashion.
