There's no better day to rock your favourite bold shade then then today because it's National Lipstick Day! It's not uncommon for girls on insta to be rocking pink, red or nude lips - or even brown, black or blue lips! But it wasn't always the case.

Wearing lipstick in the early days of the Greek Empire indicated you were a prostitute.

Wearing lipstick in the early 1650's was nearly banned as it was thought women were tricking men into marriage and wearing lipstick was considered "witchcraft".

Wearing lipstick was nearly punishable by law in 1915 if you were under 44 as it was thought to "create a false impression."

Wearing red lipstick on set with Elizabeth Taylor was banned as she loved the colour so much.

Wearing lipstick during World War II was okay though - all other cosmetics were rationed but not lipstick! Winston Churchill claimed lipstick "boosted morale".

Wearing lipstick in 2000's became more popular than ever - over 80% of women were wearing their favourite lip, feeling more sexy and confident then ever!
