For over 25 years, Dermalogica have been dedicated to delivering skin health results through education, innovation, and professional recommendation, not through advertising, fancy packaging or promises of unrealistic cures.
Dermalogica‘s founder Jane Wurwand is a skin therapist with comprehensive training in the United Kingdom. Upon moving to the United States, she soon recognised that continued skin and body therapy education and training was practically non-existent. She found US students entered the industry licensed and qualified, but heavily yet under-trained.
Jane put her thorough knowledge and education into action and opened a simple classroom training location in California and called it The International Dermal Institute (IDI). She invited qualified skin therapists to get hands-on experience, with the belief that postgraduate training was so critical to making them competitive in the business. Today, IDI is considered the international gold-standard for postgraduate skin and body therapy training with over 40 locations worldwide.
During her teachings at the IDI she soon realised that there was no product line available to use that supported her belief of Skin Health as opposed to Beauty. Three years later Dermalogica was born, her vision was clear – “a product line free of common irritants and ingredients that are of concern to many and are known to cause breakouts including lanolin, SD alcohol, mineral oil, artificial colors and fragrances.” It would improve skin health, and be only available through a Salon, Spa or Skin Center from qualified skin therapy professionals trained at The International Dermal Institute.
Dermalogica immediately upset the common conception of beauty and glamour by classifying skin care as a health issue rather than a cosmetic concern. Just as they removed common irritants from the product ingerdients, Dermalogica also introduced a powerful new element into the brand: the specialized expertise of the professional skin therapist, which these days should come hand in hand.
All products were, and still are manufactured in the America and have never been involved in animal testing. Dermalogica is still only sold where where professional consultation and professional treatments are performed by professional skin therapists.

Dermalogica Foundation
Similarly to Dermalogicas work with Skin Therapists, is their active role in the community. The Dermalogica Foundation champions this work by providing support, both financial and volunteer, to local, grass-roots organizations that benefit women and children in need, are non-denominational, and are not supported by any other major source of funding.
Thorough cleansing is the most critical stop in both a professional treatment and successful take home routine. It deliversimmediate skin care benifits and is an important part of overall skin health. Dermalogica believes that cleansing is so important that the developed the ‘Dermalogica Double Cleanse’. This two part cleansing routine begins with Precleanse and winighes with the Dermalogica Cleanser that has been 
precribed to your skin. The Double Cleanse ensures the healthiest, cleanest skin ever. All Dermalgocia cleansers are soap-free and PH balanced to protect the skins natural moustire barrier.
Pre Cleanse is a lightweight cleansing oil. The word oil is not often associated with cleansing, but the Precleanse gentle liquefies sebum and oil based debris from the skins surface. It will easily dissolve oil-based makeup, sebum, sunscreens and all environmental pollutants from the skin, which enables thorough cleansing. This type of product offers a level of cleansing that was traditionally only experienced in a professional treatment. It is fantastic as a make up remover, working easily on the toughest waterproof and long wearing lipstick.
For the Second Cleanse, you need to find the correct cleanser for your skin type or skin condition. If you have skin with excess 
oil production the Dermal Clay Cleanser should be used after the Precleanse. This unique clay formula gives a deep cleanse and thoroughly removes dead cell debris and absorbs excess oils. Soothing Menthol calms aggravation and has a cooling sensation while natural astringents lemon and ivy help prevent future breakouts. For most skin types and for those who prefer a foaming cleanser try the Special Cleansing Gel. It washes away impurities without stripping or drying and calming lavender sooth and purify. For dryer or prematurely-aging skin, opt for the Essential Cleansing Solution. This gentle cream cleanser replenishes dry skin and vitamins help nourish and condition skin. For those with very senitive or environmentally sensitized skin the Ultracalming Cleasnser is the best option, it is so gentle that it can be removed with a tissue or The Spong Cloth, making it ideal for skin conditions too sensitized even for water.
Toning is an essential, yet often overlooked portion of skin health routines. Dermalogica Toners can also be used to refresh and hydrate as needed throughout the day. Dermalogica have two toners for all skin you can use the Multi-Active Toner, this ultra light facial spritz that refreshes and hydrates while smoothing skin surface. The Soothing 
Protection Spray is great for environmentally-sensitised skin. This spay contains Dermalogica Anti-Ozonate Complex (various products developed by Dermalogica, that when combined create a protective sheild skin from environmental influences that can lead to redness and irritation) to help protect skin from reactive ozone and reduce irritation.
All skin requires exfoliation, it is a very important part to the health of your skin. Dermalogica have a selection of chemical and physical exfoliants that range from gentle to more intense, and there is an exfoliate for every skin condition. Most people associate exfoliating with a gritty product, for those of you that like that feeling, look at the Skin Prep Scrub the grain in it is corn cob meal, so while you will get that physical exfoliating feeling. It removes clogged surface debris which allows optimum absorption of treatment products. The Gentle Cream Exfoliant provides chemical exfoliation to retexturise the skin gently. It contains AHA’s to help speed cell turnover and cell renewal rates. For daily exfoliation, choose from the Daily Microfoliant, Daily Resurfacer or use the Exfoliating Face Brush with your preferred cleanser.
