The Best Cult Beauty Buys

Cult beauty – we’re talking about those highly sought after products everyone seems to need to get their hands on. They’re this season’s social media darlings, featuring on your Facebook or Instagram feed with what we’re sure is relative frequency. It seems as though having a few of these little gems in your regular routine will catapult you straight to beauty blogger status.

The Best Cult Beauty Buys

Rest assured, if you haven’t explicitly heard of brands like The Ordinary, SACHAJUAN and Ofra Cosmetics, you’ve definitely seen their products somewhere. Keep reading to find out our favourite cult beauty brands and the hero products that are totally worth the hype.

1. SACHAJUAN

Straight outta Sweden, SACHAJUAN was the brainchild of two innovative hairdressers back in the late 90s. Since starting out, they’ve grown their brand to epic proportions, eventually branching out to Australia in recent months. They’re known for their effortless approach to haircare, with their models often wearing messy, lived in styles. Their products definitely live up to all the buzz surrounding the brand, and come in cool, minimalist packaging everyone would love to have cluttering up their bathroom counters.

The SACHAJUAN Ocean Mist ($35) is potentially the most talked-about product from their line. A few spritzes of this wondrous product and your hair will be left in beachy waves without the crunchy feeling that often comes from sea and salt air.

Another bestseller is the SACHAJUAN Hair Repair ($35), an intensive treatment for dry, damaged or frizzy hair. Forget time-consuming and messy hair masks – this is an alternative that’ll only take up a little bit of that precious Netflixing time. Simply pop it on your hair in the shower after shampooing and lather for 5-10 minutes, really letting it soak into the follicles. The result? Soft, strong and silky hair.

2. The Ordinary

We’ve already raved about DECIEM’s The Ordinary, but take this as confirmation that the obsession is real. The Ordinary’s whole ethos is grounded in simplicity – as each product only contains one or two active ingredients, they’re able to keep price points so low, your spare change can buy you a whole new skincare routine! Not only are these products dirt cheap, they’re also incredibly effective and easy to incorporate into your daily routine.

The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2% ($17.90) is the perfect first product to kickstart your collection. Featuring two next-generation concentrations of retinol, this should be used once nightly to help keep signs of ageing at bay. Simply apply gently to all areas of the face and let it work its magic overnight, filling in those fine lines and reducing further wrinkles!

Another fave is The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rosehip Seed Oil ($18.90). Rosehip seed oil has gained recognition for helping to deeply hydrate the skin and slow down signs of ageing, as well as tackling a variety of skin conditions like psoriasis and rosacea. By cold-pressing this product, the utmost quality is maintained. And all for less than $20 – it’s a skincare miracle!

3. Ofra Cosmetics

If you’re a regular Instagram addict, there’s a 99.9% chance you’ve already drooled over some of the gorgeous products from Ofra Cosmetics. From pigmented golden highlighters to a multicoloured array of liquid lipsticks, this brand has begun their inevitable takeover of the beauty industry. Their collabs with the likes of Nikkie Tutorials, Kathleen Lights and Manny MUA have amped up the hype surrounding this brand even more.

The biggest hit out of the whole collection is the Ofra Highlighter in the shade Rodeo Drive ($35). A gorgeous, golden hue, this’ll help give your skin a sun-kissed glow reminiscent of beach-bound supermodels. They use ‘baked’ technology to help amplify the pigment, so your highlight will be shimmery and on point all day long.
