How To

To Freck or Not to Freck

So freckles are in now? Why weren’t they in when I was growing up, pasty and spotted, being called “dirty” or “speckled”? As per usual – the grass is always greener. So, for the girls who missed out on the mid-teen angst of having freckles – Freck Yourself has arrived. Conquer the world, one freckle at a time.

Social Media Socialite Remi Brixton from California created Freck Yourself – the first kit that lets you apply semi-permanent, realistic looking freckles with ease.

Sorry Pippi, those days are over.

What is Freck Yourself?

Freck Yourself solves two of the biggest freckle drawing issues (apparently). Firstly, it’s hard to create a realistic pattern, as natural freckles don’t really have a pattern, and are of random sizes. And second, freckles applied with a pencil eyeliner smudge very easily. Freck Yourself solves both of these problems. The Freck Yourself kit comes with 72 self-adhesive stencils and a rollerball full of special freckle formula that is similar to that of fake tan. The freckle patterns aim to look natural and can last for two days. Constant use of Freck Yourself will have users seeing realistic looking freckles for up to 6 weeks.

Application

Applying faux freckles is as easy as these four steps:

How easy is that.

The Freck Yourself kit will cost you a whopping $50.50 AUD (converted from USD) + shipping. So if you’re not about that life you could try the following:

Create your own Freckles:

For the colour:

Maybelline Master Liner Cream Eye Pencil – Brown. $12.50. Smudgeproof and waterproof for ultimate freckle staying power.

OR

Napoleon Perdis Eye Pencil – Brown Sugar $30.00. Super pigmented for easy freckling.

Youngblood Eyeliner Pencil – Chestnut $23.96. Made with natural beeswax and candelilla wax for smooth, easy application and long-wearing freckles.

For the size:

Take a sheet of wax paper and a sewing needle. Cut the wax paper into a square small enough for the area under your eyes. Carefully poke some small holes in the wax paper with the needle, creating some holes larger then others.

Hold the wax paper to your cheek, and use the pencil to lightly fill in the holes.

To make it last:

Take a translucent setting powder and dust carefully over the freckled area so it won’t smudge. I recommend Antipodes Translucent Skin-Brightening Mineral Finishing Powder for a flawless finish and freckle longevity.

I’m not sure if drawn on freckles are worth the effort, but it’s definitely better than exposing your skin to harsh UV rays for hours on end.

Will you be stepping up your summer makeup game with some faux freckles?

Or is it all a bit too Pippi Longstockings?
