4 Christmas Party Makeup Looks to Get You in the Festive Mood

Christmas is only a few weeks away (eek!) which means that Christmas party season is in full swing. If your shindig is still on the horizon, we’re sure you’ve been agonising over what to wear, and more importantly, how to do your makeup.

4 Christmas Party Makeup Looks to Get You in the Festive Mood

Whether it be for a work Christmas party, family ‘do or something a little more high society, we’ve got you covered when it comes to inspo. We’ve rounded up our favourite blogger makeup looks that’ll be perfect for Christmastime. Keep reading to discover something that’s right up your alley, no matter what kind of Christmas event you’re attending. Sleeeeighhhh. (We’re sorry.)

Romantic Red on Red

Carli Bybel Christmas Makeup Look Red Eyes and Lips

If someone asked you to pick a Christmas colour, chances are that red springs to mind. So, it makes a whole lot of sense that we see red makeup looks at practically every Christmas party, and red lipstick in particular. Instead of playing it safe with a crimson lip and neutral eye, though, we challenge you to go monochrome like beauty blogger (and all-round babe) Carli Bybel has done.

For the eyes, you’ll need to create a gradient effect that fades from deep red to a pearly white in the inner corner. Begin by buffing a cream or pale brown colour as a base all over the lid, then focusing the stunning, dark red Matt Kumar from the Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony Palette in the outer V. Blend inwards with a mid brown transition colour.

Dab a little of your favourite concealer on a small, flat brush and apply to the lid from the inner corner, working about half way in. Then, take a pearlescent highlighter shade, such as Jupiter from the Garbo & Kelly Overnight Sensation Palette, and pack tightly to the concealed area, blending gently back into the red to blur any stark lines. Top with winged liner and some lush lashes. For your lips, we recommend a true blue-red such as the Illamasqua Lipstick in Box.

Green Goddess

Green Christmas Halo Eye Look Nude Lipstick

Channel Christmas trees and mistletoe with this gorgeous green halo eye look. You’ll need a darker, forest-y shade for the outer section, and something brighter and lighter to apply to the lid and along the lower lash line. Begin your application with a base or eyeshadow primer to help the colours pop.

Blend the dark green hue from the OFRA Signature Eyeshadow Palette – Smokey Eyes into and above the crease. As this look takes on a halo eye style, don’t worry about keeping any clean lines. Extend your brush strokes into the outer V and along the outer half of the lower lash line. Then, pack the Illamasqua Powder Eyeshadow in Fledgling onto the lid. Take a pencil brush and dip into this shade, dragging it along the first half of the lower lash line.

Dab something pale and radiant in the inner corner as a highlight. We love the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Pearl. Finish the look off with mascara and a lip colour of your choice. This blogger’s choice of a dusky, pink-toned nude is absolutely perfect — replicate it with the ModelRock Liquid Last Matte Lipstick in You Mauve Me. However, this look would be equally as stunning with a red or even a brown.

Frosty Silvers

Nikkie Tutorials Christmas Makeup Look Silver Eyes Peach Lips

Although we celebrate Christmas in the dead of summer here in Australia, frosty silvers and whites still make for an absolutely gorgeous, winter-inspired makeup look. Nikkie Tutorials has hit the nail on the head with her sparkly silver eye look, peach lipstick and blinding highlight. (The tiara is also the most extra thing ever, and we desperately need it.)

Recreate Nikki’s look by firstly buffing a neutral brown shade into the crease and outer corner. Then, apply your shimmery silver shade all over the lid.  The shade Silver Hue in the Gorgeous Cosmetics 4 Pan Eyeshadow Palette – Hollywood is an ideal choice. If you want to sparkle it up even more, dust the Lit Cosmetics Mini Me Lit Kit in Tinsel Town (fitting) over the top with the provided adhesive as a base.

For your highlighter, you’ll need something iridescent and on the brighter, lighter side. Base how pale you go off your skin tone; think pure white for paler skins and champagne or rose gold for darker complexions. The Garbo & Kelly Master of Illumination Highlighting Kit has four sparkling shades so you can change it up however you feel.

Lastly, we’re loving Nikki’s choice of a peach lip shade. The Pixi Mattelustre Lipstick in Peach Blossom is a beautiful, wearable option. However, this is your chance to play up the lips however you’d like — silver is so neutral, you could opt for practically anything! Side with the traditional in red or pink, or go all out with a bold pop of colour.

Beautiful Berries

Kasey Rayton Christmas Eye Look Purple Liner Berry Lips

Okay, you caught us — this stunning cut crease look by Kasey Rayton is actually an anti-Valentine’s Day look, but we’re repurposing it, as it’s also super Christmas appropriate. It’ll be all eyes on you no matter what kind of Christmas party or event you’re off to.

Start off by buffing neutral browns into the crease — the Kryolan Professional Eyeshadow Palette in Muscat has the perfect shades. Then, warm it up a little with a terracotta or rust hue. To create the cut crease, take your concealer on a brush and carefully sketch out the lid, filling in for a new base. Buff a pale cream or white shade onto this area.

Then, whip out the berry liner for an extra-dramatic winged look. It’s a little hard to find liquid eyeliner that isn’t a traditional black or brown, so we recommend using a liquid lipstick (multipurpose products at their finest!). The Lime Crime Velvetines Metallic Liquid Matte Lipstick in Raisin Hell acts as a stunning berry-toned liquid liner.

We love that Kasey hasn’t played it safe and matched her lippie and liner. Do the same by going a little off-centre with the Lime Crime Velvetines Liquid Matte Lipstick in Saint.
