Dermalogica Age Smart Starter Kit Product Review

Happy Tuesday morning everyone!!

I previously told you that I recently turned 40 and that I picked up the Dermologica AGE Smart Starter Kit. Even though I’ve just started using the products, I figured I’d post an initial impression review and then updated it periodically!

Here’s what comes in the kit:

Resurfacing Cleanser (1 oz)
Antioxidant HydraMist (1 oz)
MAP-15 Regenerator® (0.02 oz)
Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF30 (0.34 oz)
MultiVitamin Power Firm (0.17 oz)
MultiVitamin Power Recovery Masque (0.5 oz)
Renewal Lip Complex (sample)

Obviously, these are “starters”, so they aren’t very big.

Here’s the background on my skin and skin care regimen:

40 years old, sensitive skin, dry- not overly dry
Regimen: Bar soap (I know. That’s bad.) Ultra-clear emu oil.

I really couldn’t wait to try this line, as is evident by the box (I ripped it open). I looked at the products, read the back of them and immediately took the resurfacing cleanser with me to the shower. I was bit concerned when I squirted the Dermalogica Age Smart Skin Resurfacing Cleanser on my palm and began rubbing my palms together …. I expected it to lather up a bit.. or have a bit of a body to it. Instead, it looked like lotion. I even had to check the label on the container again to make sure I had the correct product. I proceeded as the directions instructed, wondering if I’d get that slight burn that many lactic acid creams have given me in the past. To my surprise, I did not. And, once again, I became concerned. I thought, “no pain, no gain.”

Each time I normally use resurfacing (microdermabrasion) products, I can tell an immediate difference when I step out of the shower. This time I couldn’t. I was a bit concerned, but wondered if it was a cumulative effect and I’d have to wait a week or so to see results.

Ironically enough the following morning my parents remarked that I looked “better” in my face. Now, I’m not sure how much that had to do with the resurfacing cleanser as I had my tooth pulled a couple of days before. Perhaps they were saying I looked better compared to tooth-pulling day (ha!)

It’s been about 2 weeks since I first used the cleanser and, I have to say, all of my concerns have FADED, just like the old, tired skin on my face! 🙂 For me, it was a gradual change. Maybe that’s a good thing, seeing that I have sensitive skin and normally products like these are pretty harsh to my face! I like the way my face feels and I do have a certain brighter look now.  I WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend the Dermalogica Age Smart Skin Resurfacing Cleanser!  If you haven’t tried it, you’re missing out… grab some!

Next update is on the MultiVitamin Power Firm … stay tuned!
