This week we were lucky enough to have founder of fashion and fitness blogΒ Substance;Β Ally Hayward teach us how to create Perfect Effortless Waves with the ghdCurve WaveΒ Wand.
Keep reading below for her step by step tutorial so you too can createΒ Effortless Curls.
How to get Effortless Waves - Ally Hayward:
The thing I have to keep in mind when I buy hair product or new hair tools online is that the modelβs hair isnβt included in purchaseβ¦
So this tutorial is basically the next best thing.

(OR ATTEMPT TO DO IT, IF YOUβRE ME)
I am by no means a professional when it comes to styling my hair. If I ever receive a comment on βhow nice my hair looksβ, it generally means I have either freshly washed it, or I have brushed the knots out. I am very effortless when it comes to hair, as I like a messy,Β tousledΒ look, over curls that fall perfectly into one another.
See below for my tutorial!

STEP 1: Clean your hair. I am 100% sure you would know how to shampoo and conditioner your hair by now, if not Billy Madison explains it pretty well, so maybe spend 21 seconds watching this YouTube video.STEP 2: Towel dry and then roughly dry with a hairdryer. If like me, you end up looking like Cowardly Lion after using a hairdryer, itβs all good, I promise youβll look amazing by the end.

STEP 3: Brush it out, we want the natural texture of your hair. This will make the waves stay in and it will give the look dimension.Photo Credit: Ally HaywardΒ
STEP 4: Second off your hair into three sections, like so.

STEP 5. Turn on curler β like this isnβt obvious β but I have been known to wait and wait and then realise I havenβt even plugged it in yet. I blame early mornings.

STEP 6: Taking small sections wrap your hair around the barrel of your curler or GHD wave wand. I tend to start at the front and make my way backwards because then I can see how the waves are looking and how big I want to create them.

STEP 7:Β Spray with hairspray and texture spray or dry shampoo.

STEP 8: Let your next section down and repeat step 6.
STEP 9: Repeat step 7.

STEP 10: Mess it up with fingers and brush lightly, then add in a hair powder to create volume and texture.

STEP 11: Voila! Youβre now looking less Cowardly Lion, more like Dorothy. If it didnβt turn out how you like, then call me, we can emotionally eat through a packet of donuts or something.
I really like the size wave the GHD wave creates β itβs undone which is what I really like! You donβt have to spend too long brushing out the curls afterwards.
Thanks Ally!
