These Cult Skincare Products Keep Selling Out

Nothing conjures mixed feelings more than knowing a new, coveted beauty product is selling out. On one hand, you’ll need no further reassurance that you need to grab a hold of it, but actually doing so? Well, that’s another story. Sticking to the positives, though – if something is constantly selling out then it has to be nothing short of miraculous. Lately, one particular brand has been flying off the shelves quicker than we can restock them!

The cult skincare brand we’re talking about is (drumroll, please)….The Ordinary!

If you’re a skincare buff or love to keep up to date with what’s hot, you probably guessed it. From the parent company DECIEM, who themselves are known for innovative skincare, The Ordinary combines science and skincare at an extremely low price point. We’re talking as low as $8.80 AUD. To me, that price point is pretty insane, considering I will up and spend triple that amount on brunch without batting an eyelid. The fact that I could pick up an entire skincare routine for practically the same price is disarming yet very, very welcomed!

As many devotees have realised, these products are anything but ‘Ordinary’. But what exactly makes a select few products instant sell-outs? Keep on reading to find out which products are hot commodities and why.

These Cult Skincare Products Keep Selling Out

Buffet Multi-Technology Peptide Serum ($24.90)

Aptly named, this product is a little bit of everything. It seems to be The Ordinary’s best selling product primarily for this reason – perfect for combatting or preventing against the visible signs of ageing, the Buffet includes ingredients such as Matrixyl and SYN-AKE synthetic snake venom. This product keeps selling out because it includes quite a few active ingredients, yet only retails at $24.90. That’s practically a quarter of what you’ll pay for some traditionally ‘higher-end’ skincare brands offering very similar results. What a win!

Apply: Twice daily (AM & PM)
Use if you’re: concerned about the visible signs of ageing.

Salicylic Acid 2% Solution ($8.80)

Salicylic Acid-based products will be your new lifesavers if you’re prone to acne, breakouts or clogged pores. This exfoliating serum takes the place of harsh, often irritating physical exfoliants and instead, works chemically to promote cell turnover. It’s able to really get inside the walls of your pores, meaning that less junk (dirt and so on) accrues in them, leading to fewer pesky spots. Salicylic Acid is used as an ingredient in a lot of anti-acne creams and gels, however in order to harness its full potential, The Ordinary have instead chosen to market the solution in as pure a form as possible. There’s the key to why this product is a total sellout – because it’s quite potent, it’ll help relieve skin irritations quicker and with more efficacy. Say goodbye to breakouts forever!

Apply: Twice daily (AM & PM)
Use if you’re: prone to breakouts and acne.

100% Cold Pressed Rosehip Seed Oil

Slathering oils all over your face is a sure-fire way to ensure skin stays smooth and supple, but you’ve got to be using the right oil in the first place! We love the effects of Rosehip Oil, especially the Cold Pressed Rosehip Seed Oil 100% by The Ordinary. This bad boy is a best-seller because of a few factors. Firstly, it’s cold-pressed, meaning that the antioxidant effect of the Vitamin A present in this formula performs at its best. When oils are pressed using heat, the efficacy of the nutrients can be easily compromised. It’s also 100% in concentration, which ensures you’re getting a rich, high potency product. Rosehip oil has been known to work wonders for the signs of photo-ageing, as well as dryness and dehydration.

Apply: Once daily (PM) following water-based products
Use if you’re: concerned about the visible signs of ageing; prone to dry/dehydrated skin.

High Adherence Silicone Primer ($8.80)

This primer is honestly a wonder. If you’re oily, prone to breakouts or suffer from acne, you’ll know silicone primers aren’t always your friend, as they can clog pores easily. A staunch advocate against silicone primers, I hesitantly decided to give this product a go after hearing it didn’t take on the same feel most others did. Fast forward and now I can’t live without this. It’s creamy and light, and feels almost like a moisturiser that then goes tacky a few minutes following application. My makeup really sticks to this product. Usually, give it an hour or two and it’s already slipping, even in the dead of winter, but this product prolongs the slippage ’til the end of the day at least. It’s pretty obvious why this baby is a true cult fave!

Apply: Prior to makeup application
Use if you’re: oily, greasy or prone to acne/breakouts, and want your makeup to stick.

Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution ($14.50)

Anyone who has used Glycolic Acid before knows that it’s an expert exfoliator. Instead of scrubbing away at your skin with harsh little beads, encourage cell turnover with this chemical exfoliant, in the form of a toner from The Ordinary. Glycolic Acid is everywhere now, though, so what makes this particular product a sell-out that sits head and shoulders above the rest? Well, both the pH and pKa of this solution have been regulated to provide optimum results without irritation. It’s also infused with Tasmanian Pepperberry to help sooth skin and prevent against the sore feeling some acids can cause. Watch as skin appears clearer, smoother and more radiant after just a few uses.

Apply: Only once daily (PM)
Use if you’re:
prone to dry, flaky or dull skin.
Do not use if you have sensitive or peeling skin.

Natural Moisturising Factors + HA ($9.80)

Featuring amino and fatty acids, just to name a few, this product is more than just a moisturiser. Perhaps the most versatile product in The Ordinary’s current range when it comes to skin type, practically anyone who needs a little hydration should give this product a go. Natural Moisturising Factors, or NMF, actually exist in our skin’s make-up. This product attempts to supplement and mimic those factors, which is why it’s so effective. It’s also light, feels soft to the touch and won’t ever go greasy or weigh down the skin. Another active ingredient in this product is HA (Hyaluronic Acid) which also helps lock in hydration. Whether you’re super dry, oily or somewhere in between, this one is worth your $9.80 (seriously, what a bargain).

Apply: Twice daily (AM & PM)
Use if you’re: wanting to restore some moisture to the skin.
All skin types allowed!
