Napoleon Perdis Stroke of Genius foundation Review

Napoleon Perdis Foundation Reviews

Does it really make your skin “look and feel as soft as cashmere?

Is it truly oh-so-easy to apply?

After trialling Napoleon’s newest foundation offering for just over a month now, I have the answers to those questions and more!

Released in May this year, Napoleon’s Stroke of Genius foundation is a true medium to high coverage foundation, that kindly, contains SPF 20. You can never get enough sun protection (especially those cheekies of you out there who usually skip sunscreen altogether)!

Out of the five shades available, I chose to review Look 1 – which is the lightest and a perfect match for my skin-tone. I’m a Paley Hayley.

Now the packaging, it is PERFECT for on-the-go. Pop off the classy gold lid and you’ll find a handy built-in brush! While it’s definitely not on par with a high-quality foundation brush, it is still super helpful when out and about and in need of a touch up. Also, it has a sweet twist-around feature so it can be set in ON or OFF mode. When it is in OFF mode, the foundation cannot be squished out of the brush – a god-like feature when stashed in the handbag!

There are two ways I prefer to apply Stroke Of Genius. Squeezing out a small amount onto the back of my hand or directly onto the face (a little goes a LONG way). I either blend and pat it on with my fingers, or with a standard foundation brush (my fave at the moment being the Rae Morris Radiance Brush). In the pics you see here, I applied by hand without a brush so you can see what finish you can achieve yourself at home.Brush3

Trying to apply the product with the built-in brush is NOT the most fun day out. While it’s handy for getting the product onto the skin, it doesn’t do the best job at blending, so stick with your warm fingers or a separate brush to get the job done fast – it’ll give you a more beautiful, flawless finish.

The actual foundation itself is super rad – a thick consistency that is surprisingly still easy to blend and covers discolouration VERY well. As in “skip your concealer” material. Base game is STRONG with this one, Nap Man.

With a velvety, semi-matte finish, it doesn’t feel heavy on and manages to still look like skin. No cakeyness here!

Longevity with Stroke Of Genius is insane. After applying the morning, at night it is still going strong and barely shows any sign of fade. And this is WITHOUT powder to set. Pretty darn incredible! The velvet and bio-polymer spheres in Stroke of Genius are said to smooth and perfect the skin texture, however I did notice that it did accentuate the large pores on my nose on certain days.

Truly, that would be my one and only major gripe with this otherwise beautiful base ace.

Paraben free, gluten free (but don’t eat it) and oil free, Napoleon Perdis Stroke Of Genius 30ml is available at Ry.com.au for $60 AUD. And bonus, they deliver Napoleon products FREE of charge!

PSST…for the oilier skin types who feel they will need a powder to compliment Stroke Of Genius, Napoleon’s Camera Finish Pressed Powder is one of my two favourites of all-time. Incredible stuff, and also available at Ry.com.au!
